Ammonium bifluoride (also referred to as ABF) is often found in wheel cleaners, wall cleaners, and products used for cleaning and etching metals before they are further processed. The marketing of ABF as a safe alternative to acids such as hydrofluoric acid (HF) is not uncommon.
